What to Know Heading Into This Commitment
Campbell de-committed from Clemson earlier in the process. Tennessee and North Carolina had both remained heavily in the mix for him, and both have hosted him at various times over the last month of this recruitment.
Campbell took an official visit to both programs during the month of November, and then, he later returned to Knoxville for the Vols’ final home game at Neyland Stadium in the regular season.

“Honestly, I just had to clear up some loose ends and talk to the academic people,” Campbell told Volquest of what made him want to return to campus. “I wanted to talk about scheme-wise where I would be as a defensive line and where I would be if I was to come to the program. Me fitting inside the locker room was a big thing because you want to be around good young men and be around people of character. So, really just tying up those loose ends. When I came on my official, I got to see a lot of what the program is, so I wanted to see more about it, so I think that is what I came here to do today.”
Since those visits, North Carolina has fired Mack Brown and is in search of a new head coach for the program.
