Charlotte transfer forward Igor Milicic has Tennessee Basketball in final three

Charlotte forward Igor Milicic Jr. has Tennessee basketball in his final three according to Jon Rothstein, with the Vols joined by Nebraska and Baylor. Milicic, the 6-foot-10, 225-pound junior took an official visit to Tennessee on Tuesday and was at Nebraska over the weekend.

Milicic averaged 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds this season with the 49ers, shooting 48.7% from the field and 37.6% from the 3-point line. He started his career at Virginia before transferring to Charlotte after the 2021-22 season. He entered the transfer portal on March 25.  

Tennessee currently has five open scholarship spots after adding a commitment from Hofstra wing Darlinstone Dubar on Monday. The Vols hosted Dubar and Belmont transfer forward Cade Tyson over the weekend. 

Tennessee has hosted three visitors from NCAA Transfer Portal

Dubar spent the last three seasons at Hofstra after playing his first season at Iowa State. Dubar averaged a career-high 17.8 points per game in 33 games this season, shooting 53.9% from the floor and 39.9% from the 3-point line. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 34.6 minutes per game.

Tyson, the 6-foot-7, 205-pound sophomore, averaged 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.6 minutes per game at Belmont this season, starting all 31 games. 

The Vols are also recruiting Ohio State’s Roddy Gayle Jr. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound sophomore guard averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season, shooting 44.9% from the field.

Gayle, who entered the portal on April 3, is a former four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle. He was No. 62 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking and was the No. 8 shooting guard in the country.

He averaged 30.9 minutes per game for the Buckeyes this season, starting 35 of 36 games. He shot 51.1% on 2-point field goals, but shot just 28.4% from the 3-point line.

Vols currently scheduled to return six scholarship players next season

Tennessee has seen four players enter the NCAA Transfer Portal since the season ended two weeks ago: Junior center Jonas Aidoo, sophomore forward Tobe Awaka and redshirt freshmen Freddie Dilione and DJ Jefferson.

The Vols, while adding Dubar and freshman point guard Bishop Boswell, are currently scheduled to return six scholarship players: Juniors Zakai ZeiglerJahmai Mashack and Jordan Gainey and freshmen JP EstrellaCam Carr and Cade Phillips.

Awaka could return to the Vols and take his name out of the portal following Aidoo’s departure.

He averaged 5.1 points, 4.6 rebound and 0.6 blocks in 12.9 minutes per game, coming off the bench in 33 games this season. He averaged 3.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game as a freshman.
