In-state LB Brenden Anes 'excited' for next chapter at Tennessee
Brenden Anes has signed with the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Page High School (Ga.) standout linebacker is ready to get rolling on Rocky Top.
“It will be a huge relief,” Anes told Volquest about seeing the process end. “Even after I made the decision to go to Tennessee, it was a huge weight off my shoulders. I am excited to get started at Tennessee here soon.”

Before he makes his way to Knoxville as an early enrollee, Anes will look to cap his career at Page with a state title that has eluded him and his teammates for the last three years. To this point in the season, he feels like he has done his job for a historic defense and grown as a leader.
“I feel like, me personally, I have been doing my job and have become a better leader throughout the season ad the off-season as well,” Anes said. “We have accomplished a lot of great things as a team. Having eight shutouts in a season and holding teams to 2.2 points per game is kind of unheard of. I am just really proud of that.”

Anes will make his way to Knoxville for playoff prep later in the month, and he wants to go in and learn as much as he can.
“I am just going to try and learn as much as I possibly can. I don’t know how the practices will work yet, but I want to take in as much as I can and learn as much as I can quickly. I want to get started on trying to make a name for myself.”
The Scout on Anes
“He is the complete package,” Page Head Coach Charles Rahtbone told Volquest. “He has got size. He is athletic. He has a nose for the football. He is a physical, intense package. They are getting a really good one. He is not a ra-ra guy. He is a lead by example, hold them accountable type give. If he sees his position or anyone on the team slacking or not doing their technique right, he is going to let them know about it. He is going to hold them accountable. He knows by doing this, he has to lead by example and do his right as well which he does. He is just a special kid.”
