In-state RB, USC commit Daune Morris details Rocky Top official visit
2025 Oakland High School Running Back and USC commitment Daune Morris returned to Tennessee this weekend for his official visit with the Vols. Following the multi-day trip, Morris went in-depth on the visit and what is next in his recruitment with Volquest.
“I just enjoyed being back up and being around the community and the family and being able to see the running backs,” Morris said of what he enjoyed about the visit. “Just being around the coaches and this type of family.”
Morris was able to spend plenty of time with Tennessee Running Backs Coach De’Rail Sims throughout the visit.
“Coach Sims was one of my very first ACC offers when he was at Louisville when I was a freshman,” Morris said of this. “He has just continued to recruit me and be a good guy and continue to hold his word. Coach Sims has always held his word and continued to recruit me the same. It is hard just saying what I like about Coach Sims because he is a great running backs coach and great person.”
Morris was able to learn plenty more about his potential fit on Rocky Top throughout the weekend. He was excited to see the way Dylan Sampson has performed in Tennessee’s offense this season.
“Dylan Sampson is just balling. Regardless of the size or the weight, if you’re a baller, then you’re a baller. It shows you don’t have to be no six foot, two hundred pound guy to run the ball in the SEC. It shows that a 5-9, 5-10 guy can be a dude in the SEC/.”

So what does this visit do for Tennessee with just a little over the week left to the start of the Early Signing Period?
“Overall, this visit was one of those visits where you could see the offense move the ball, run the ball, and get the running backs involved. It was something I needed to see. Everybody was just letting me know I am a priority, and even though, I am committed to SC, they are still recruiting me and pushing me and there is a community behind me at Tennessee.”
Morris will now enter the final days of his recruitment and look to make a final decision on sticking with the Trojans or flipping to the home state Vols.
Morris is currently rated as the No.523 prospect and the No. 43 running back in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2025 recruiting cycle.
