Injury Report: Who’s in, who’s out for No. 14 Tennessee vs No.24 N.C. State
No. 14 Tennessee is set for a top-25 matchup against No. 25 N.C.State tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Ahead of the contest, Volquest looks at Tennessee’s injury situation.
Tennessee DB Jourdan Thomas (OUT)
Thomas suffered a season-ending knee injury during camp which Josh Heupel confirmed after Tennessee’s first scrimmage of the fall.
“He’s handled it with a ton of maturity,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said after the first scrimmage of fall camp. “Just being in the building, being around, being out here tonight with the guys. It matters to him. The guys care about him in a great way, too.”
Tennessee DB Christian Charles (Probable)
Charles has been dealing with an upper-body injury since last week’s game. He is expected to suit up and give it a go for Tennessee tonight in Charlotte, but we will pay close attention to his usage early on in this one to see how comfortable he is.
DE Emmanuel Okoye (OUT)
Okoye suffered a season-ending knee injury ahead of UTC and will miss the remainder of the season.
Tennessee RB Cameron Seldon (OUT)
Seldon suffered a shoulder injury that required him to miss the spring after having surgery. Seldon has been ramping back up for the past several weeks. Seldon got plenty of time against Chattanooga, but he will miss tonight’s game against N.C. State according to a Tennessee spokesperson.

Tennessee RB Peyton Lewis (IN)
The talented freshman missed spring due to a preexisting injury from his senior season in high school that required surgery. He has ramped up this fall and got his first action last week. He will be available again today.
Tennessee WR Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley (Probable)
Matthews was limited to start fall camp, but sources told Volquest at the time this was a minor soft tissue injury, and he has been getting some work of late. Staley has been dealing with a similar issue. Tennessee held the talented freshmen duo out last week, but Kelsey Pope said earlier in the week he liked the way both were trending. They should be able to suit up for the Vols tonight, but we will see if they get any opportunities with this deep receiver rotation.
Tennessee CB Rickey Gibson (Probable)
We expect Rickey Gibson to start this week after being held out as a precaution last week. Josh Heupel and Willie Martinez have both been positive when speaking about Gibson’s hamstring injury throughout the week, and it appears Tennessee should be at full strength at cornerback heading into this matchup.
Tennessee TE Miles Kitselman (Probable)
Kitselman has been dinged up coming out of the end of fall camp, but he should see playing time for the Vols today. He has been a bright spot in the tight end room for Alec Abeln’s group since arriving in the winter, and he is expected to be in the rotation for the Vols this fall.
Update: Also of note, Kalib Perry and Edwin Spillman are both in street clothes in warmups.
