Des Moines, Iowa tight end Luke Brewer was in Knoxville this weekend for his official visit after reclassifying to the recruiting class of 2026. He goes in depth about his time on Rocky Top with Volquest.

“It was awesome,” Brewer said. “If I could take away one thing besides the tight end production last night, Kits (Kitselman) had a great game, but I think the fan base. The atmosphere about it and everything about it was super cool. It was surreal. By the fourth quarter nobody had left. Everyone was still up and energetic and singing and everything. That was something I took away.”

He was able to spend a lot of Sunday with tight ends Coach, Alec Abeln, and really enjoyed talking football with him.

“First of all, that dude is a wizard,” Brewer said. “He knows ball. When he talks about football, you can tell he knows what he is talking about. That’s something I really took away. If I came here I’d be stepping into a room to a guy who loves to talk about football and knows football and is a knowledgeable guy. So I really think I’d grow in that aspect of things. That’s the main takeaway.”

Before leaving town, he sat down with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel to get a feel for what it’s like to play for the Midwest native.

“Coach Heupel is a cool dude,” Brewer said. “He is so down to earth. Finding a coach like that is a cool feeling. He loves his players and you can tell that. And he wins games and that’s something you want in a head coach.”

Tennessee makes a move

So where does Tennessee stand with more officials to come?

“I can tell you that it left off higher up on my list than the start,” Brewer said. “It was my first official so you don’t have a lot to compare it off but I came in and I was really impressed. They are doing it right here.”
