The Tennessee golf team has seen tremendous growth under head coach Brennan Webb. The leader of Vol golf has been crushing it on the recruiting trail in recent weeks by landing three massive commits in 2025 Chase Kyes and 2026 standouts Tyler Watts and Pennson Badgett. The trio sat down with Volquest to discuss the momentum on Rocky Top.

“Knoxville and Rocky Top is the place to be,” Badgett said. “They have two of the best coaches in college golf without a doubt. There were some rule changes that happened to make my decision a lot easier. The way it all happened was pretty cool with three commits in three days. That was unreal.”

All three were in town for the Florida game and seeing the love and support at Tennessee just left an impression no matter the sport you play.

“I grew up seeing all the Alabama atmosphere,” Kyes said after flipping from the Crimson Tide to Tennessee. “That was just as good if not better. It was great to see.”

Watts has been up multiple times to check out the Vols with his parents. The pitch from Webb made the decision really simple.

“I think coach Webb did a really good job of not only recruiting me but making me feel like family,” Watts said. “That’s ultimately the the reason I decided to go to Rocky Top.”

From here, all three will turn their attention to amateur sensation Blades Brown from Nashville. They want to see him stay home and play for the Vols.

“We are going to try to get him,” Badgett said.

And Watts echoed those thoughts.

“We’ll start to rub off on him,” Watts said with a smile. “He will be making his way over for sure. You would think he would be the easiest of the four but he likes to make it difficult.”
