Tennessee's Jerome Carvin thanks fans, announces plans for NFL Draft
After five years and 60 games played, Tennessee offensive lineman Jerome Carvin’s time in Knoxville has come to an end as the guard thanked Volunteer fans on Twitter Monday afternoon, announcing his intentions of pursuing an NFL career.
“As I reflect back on my five years as a Volunteer, it’s been an incredible ride with memories that will last a lifetime,” Carvin said in a social media post Monday. “I thank God for the opportunity to play this game and guide me.”
The Memphis, Tenn. native started all 13 games each of the past two seasons for Josh Heupel’s fast-paced offensive, mostly at left guard – though he filled in five games at center in 2021. Carvin did not allow a regular-season sack in each of the past two seasons. In total, the offensive lineman made 42 career starts and logged nearly 2,800 snaps on the interior of the Tennessee offensive line each of the past five campaigns.
“To Vol Nation, you were always there for me and out team. Celebrating with you on the field after the Alabama game is something I will remember for the rest of my life. From Vol Walk to Running Through the T, gamedays in Neyland are unmatched,” Carvin said in the post. “Thank you to Coach Heupel and Coach Elarbee for helping elevate our program and believing I us. Thanks to Coach Pruitt and his staff for giving me the opportunity to play at Tennessee.”
The former four-star recruit starred at Cordova High School alongside Vol teammate Jeremy Banks before arriving on Rocky Top as a freshman in 2018. Carvin played in all 12 games that season, making six starts. He started the final seven games of the 2019 campaign where the Vols finished 6-1 down the stretch and battled through injuries to play in 10 games with four starts in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

“To my teammates, we are brothers for life. We have been through so much,” the offensive lineman continued. “This season has been so much fun and to see our hard work pay off and celebrate an 11-win season with an Orange Bowl win is rewarding.”
The guard was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week following Tennessee’s win over UT Martin this season and has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
“I now begin the next chapter of my life preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft and can’t wait for the future,” Carvin concluded. “I am proud to be a VFL and Rocky Top will always be ‘home sweet home’ to me.”
According to Tennessee Sports Information, no position player in UT history has played in more games than Carvin’s 60 throughout his Volunteer career.
