Lady Vols move up four spots to No. 11 in the AP poll

The Tennessee Lady Vols have won four straight with two regular season games left to play. The result is a four spot climb in the AP poll Tennessee is up to No. 11 in this week’s AP poll.
The Lady Vols beat No. 18 Alabama 88-80 at home last Thursday and they rallied from a nine point half time deficit to win 86-78 at Florida Sunday afternoon.
The No. 11 ranking is the rightest ranking for the Las Vols since they were ranked 10th in the pre-season in 2023.
Tennessee closes out the regular season this week with a Thursday night road trip to Kentucky and then senior day on Sunday against Georgia.
In her first year, Kim Caldwell has her team a lock for the NCAA Tournament but this last week there’s plenty more on the line.
Kentucky is coming off a loss to LSU and still has South Carolina left. Texas, LSU and South Carolina are locks for a double bye in the SEC Tournament, but the fourth spot is up for grabs and a win Thursday night in the commonwealth of Kentucky would be a huge boost to that possibility.

Tennessee is also listed as a top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament and if they could hold that spot then they would be a host site for the first two rounds of the tournament.
In order for either one to happen, Tennessee needs more win and Caldwell made it clear our her team needed a 37 point third quarter to win at Florida on Sunday, here team must play better for all 40 minutes.
“I think if we go to Lexington and we play like this we lose,” Caldwell said on her post game radio show. “I think if we go to the SEC Tournament and play like this we lose. We have talked about that at length. We need to have a good game on the road. We haven’t had a good game on the road since Arkansas. We have to do a better job. We have to mature a little bit as a team down the stretch.”
Tip off Thursday night in Lexington is set for 7pm ET and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
