HOUSTON — Tennessee feasted behind the home run ball at the plate and the heater on the mound to cruise 5-2 over Oklahoma State Friday evening from Daikin Park in the Astros Foundation College Classic.

The Vols (9-0) belted four home runs during the victory – two from Gavin Kilen – and dominated on the mound with the trio of Liam Doyle, Dylan Loy and Tanner Franklin. The Cowboys (4-4) got a run of their own via the longball from Colin Brueggemann in the seventh inning, but struggled throughout with only six hits in the contest.

Loy (1-0) earned the win on the mound for the Big Orange after working out of a Liam Doyle in the jam with two quick strikeouts. Gabe Davis (0-1) is charged with the loss after allowing three runs off four hits in three innings of work.

Reese Chapman also extended his season-opening hit-streak to nine games with a single in the seventh inning.

The weekend of play in Houston rolls on as the Vols challenge Rice on Saturday at 12:05 pm ET and Arizona Sunday morning at 11:05 ET.
