HOUSTON — Tennessee turned in one of its most complete ballgames of the season Sunday afternoon at Daikin Park, taking care of Arizona 5-1 to conclude play in Houston at the Astros Foundation College Classic.

With the win, Tennessee turned in a 3-0 weekend and was crowned champions of the classic. The team took a picture in centerfield following the game with a championship banner after knocking off Arizona, who was previously unbeaten on the weekend. The Vols were also crowned champions of the Shriners Children’s Collegiate Showdown in 2023 during an early-season tournament.

The Vols (11-0) blasted three home runs in the win as Andrew Fischer and Levi Clark went back-to-back in the fourth and Cannon Peebles followed with a three-run round tripper in the seventh. The Wildcats (7-3) struck first in the second inning with an RBI triple from Easton Breyfogle but didn’t muster much thereafter.

Brandon Arvidson (1-0) earned the win on the mound after pitching a solid 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Smith Bailey (0-1) took home the loss while allowing two runs off five hits in 5.1 innings of work in the start. Freshman Teghan Kuhns started the ballgame for Tennessee and allowed one run over two innings. Nate Snead tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Up Next: Tennessee returns home for a pair of midweek evening contests against Radford (Tuesday) and Xavier (Wednesday). Both games will begin at 6 o’clock eastern time.
