TUSCALOOSA, Ala.. — Tennessee blasted three home runs and received an outstanding effort from freshman hurler Tegan Kuhns in Saturday’s 9-2 win over Alabama on the road, securing the series-victory in the rubber match.

Andrew Fischer and Dalton Bargo tallied back-to-back home runs in the second inning while Reese Chapman added a third solo shot in the fifth. Chapman also drove in the first run of the contest on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.

Kuhns did not qualify for the win on the mound as he was lifted with one out in the fifth inning, but the righty retired the first 11 batters he faced all day and allowed just one hit in the start. Fellow freshman Brayden Krenzel (W, 1-0) earned his first career win after tossing 4.1 innings of relief.

Alabama starter Bobby Alcock (3-1) is charged with the loss after allowing three runs off five hits in 2.1 innings of work.

The No. 1 ranked Vols improved to 22-2 on the season with a 5-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play. 12th-ranked Crimson Tide fall to 22-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Tennessee dropped two games in-a-row this week for the first time since at Alabama on March 16-17 of last season. The squad responded well by winning the final two games of the series on the road without slugger Gavin Kilen all weekend.

Up Next: Tennessee returns home for a midweek bout with Queens on Tuesday at 6 pm ET before hitting the road again for conference play at South Carolina next weekend.
