How it Happened: Levi Clark powers Tennessee to comeback win over Samford
Levi Clark’s pinch-hit grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning put Tennessee up for good as the Vols battled back for the 7-3 win over Samford, preserving the series-win on Saturday afternoon from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee (6-0) trailed twice in the ballgame but kept on chipping away. Samford (3-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended it to 2-0 in the fifth before the Vols eventually tied things up at 3-3 in the seventh – setting things up for the true freshman Clark’s grand slam in the eighth to go ahead.
Nate Snead (1-0) earned the win on the mound for the Vols, pitching 4.1 innings of relief. Joseph Lee (0-1) took home the loss after allowing the go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning.
Tennessee goes for the series-sweep over Samford on Sunday at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
