Tennessee baseball won a fourth-straight game to begin the season in run-rule fashion as Tuesday’s chilly midweek at Lindsey Nelson Stadium against UNC Asheville was all Vols, 29-4 the final score in seven innings.

The Vols blasted five home runs on the day with Dean Curley and Dalton Bargo hitting two apiece. Tennessee (4-0) scored an impressive nine runs in the second inning, only to follow it up with eight more in the third. UT tallied 17 hits while UNC Asheville managed only four runs off five hits. The 29 runs tied for the most of the Vitello era for Tennessee.

Nic Abraham (1-0), who made his Tennessee debut in the ballgame, earned the win on the mound after being the first guy in from the bullpen. The righty allowed one unearned run with one strikeout over 1.1 innings of work. Zachary Gaydos (0-1) is charged with the loss after allowing five runs off two hits in just 0.1 inning of work out of the ‘pen.

Tennessee returns to action Friday to begin a three-game series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium against Samford. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm eastern time.
