Mariyon Dye picks Tennessee and details decision

Tennessee added a significant piece to the 2025 class moments ago in four-star EDGE Mariyon Dye. Prior to revealing the decision, Dye went in-depth with Volquest on why Tennessee was the right choice for him.
Dye’s relationship with Levorn “Harbin and Josh Heupel played a key role in picking the Vols.
“It was really just how they treated my family and me,” Dye said of why Tennessee was the right decision for him. “The relationship I built with Coach Chop and Coach Heup, that was two big things for me.”
Dye knew before he left Rocky Top that Tennessee was going to be his choice just because of the home feeling.
“During my OV for sure,” Dye said of this. “It was really just when I was bonding with the players. The coaches made it feel like home. The players made it feel like home. Everything just felt like home. When I told them, they were probably more excited than me. I am so excited and get there and get to work. I can’t wait”
Senior Defensive Analyst Levorn “Chop” Harbin was key for the Vols down the stretch, as he helped the Vols outlast strong pushes from Ohio State and Purdue.

“He keeps it real with you, he is like a father figure for sure,” Dye said of what stood out about Coach Chop. “He isn’t always going to tell you everything is right. He is going to tell you what you are doing wrong, and that shows he cares. That is what really stood out to me. He really checks up on me and my family. It is not just about football. That was another big part for me too. It shows that he cares.”
Dye’s relationship with Josh Heupel was also a critical piece for the Vols in this recruitment.
“That is a head coach I can really bond with,” Dye said of Heupel. “He is not a regular head coach. He is a players head coach for sure and makes it easy to talk.”
So now that he is officially in the 2025 classs, what does the four-start feel like he is bringing to the table?
“I am a hard worker man,” Dye said. “I am a really positive person and I am a hard worker. I am a big guy, and I am real athletic. That is a big combo.”
