Tennessee’s annual Orange & White game is in the rear view and multiple high level recruits were on hand for the outing. The atmosphere and play on the field stood out among other things. The Volquest staff breaks down the recruiting day in this mini-pod.

Long-time in-state linebacker target Edwin Spillman was on hand and continues to feel like Tennessee makes him a priority.

“Really just being around the coaches,” Spillman said of what stood out about the visit. “Being around coach BJ more and sitting in meetings and seeing his coaching style in the classroom and on the field also.”

Peach State defensive lineman Jeremias Heard made his way back to Knoxville for the first time since January and continues to feel good about Tennesseee.

“I enjoyed the environment again this weekend,” Heard told Volquest. “It is an nice community around here, and I enjoyed being around the coaches and players again.”

Elsewhere the headliner of the weekend Kamarion Franklin came into town on Friday for a multi-day visit and remains impressed with the approach from Rodney Garner and the Tennessee staff in his recruitment.

“I have been having a really good time,” Franklin told Volquest. “I have been having a lot of fun and am enjoying myself.”

Tennessee is also currently hosting one official visitor this weekend and that is athlete Emmanuel Okoye. The London based athlete could play edge or tight end in college. Tennessee along with Vanderbilt and Georgia are getting official visits while he is in the states. He plays for the NFL Academy and while raw, has big-time upside with his length and speed.

The Vols recruiting class is currently ranked 8th in the country with eight total commitments. The class score of 92.356 is just behind Notre Dame and just ahead of Oregon and Florida State.
The Vols continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail ahead of what will be a busy summer featuring a Memorial Day recruiting event and June official visits.
