(Kyle Robertson/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK) Ohio State Buckeyes defensive tackle Jerron Cage (86) recovers a fumble and scores a touchdown against Penn State Nittany Lions during the second quarter of their game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on October 30, 2021.

Ohio State on Thursday teased a different uniform look for its home game against Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes posted a video on social media showing their alternate scarlet pants with the caption “THEY’RE BACK.”

Ohio State last wore scarlet jerseys and scarlet pants in October 2021, when a fifth-ranked Buckeye team beat No. 20 Penn State 33-24 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

It was announced on Wednesday that Ohio State is planning to ‘Scarlet The Shoe,’ asking all Ohio State fans to wear scarlet to the game.

No. 9 Tennessee (10-2) and No. 8 Ohio State (10-2) are scheduled on Saturday, December 21 for an 8 p.m. Eastern Time start on ABC and ESPN. The winner will advance to face No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl on January 1.

Ohio State earlier this week opened as a 7.5-point favorite for the game.

“We’re obviously excited about playing the first ever playoff game in Ohio Stadium,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said this week. “Ohio Stadium has been around a long time, over a 100 years. There’s been a lot of great games, but never a playoff game like this. And so night game, 8 o’clock, it’s gonna be electric.”

It’s only the second time the two teams have met, with the Vols winning 20-14 in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day 1996.

“Certainly excited about being in the playoff,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said on Sunday, “and, obviously, playing a great program that has had a ton of success in recent history, but throughout their their program history. And certainly what they’ve done on the field this year.

“We’re excited that we get an opportunity to play an elite program like that.
