Tennessee will host Mississippi State this weekend for Homecoming on The Hill and the cast from Volquest discuss the ever improving Vols as we reach early to mid November.

“Not that they have been a juggernaut in the second half but they put up 24 against Alabama and did what they needed to do against Kentucky,” Rob Lewis said. “You feel like the ingredients are there and it’s not just Nico and the passing game. I think we all think Dylan Sampson is great but even he is sluggish in the first half.”

Nico Iamaleava had his best game against good competition last weekend by passing for 292 yards and a touchdown. Even then, the offense still struggled because those around him did not play efficient football.

“The issue with Tennessee in the first half Saturday was just couldn’t finish drives,” Eric Cain said. “You had a dropped touchdown pass, a fumble and a couple of missed field goals, some penalties that moved the sticks back. You had almost 500 yards of total offense and most of that in the first half and you just couldn’t finish. The point differential first half to second half is mind blowing.”

Tennessee Football Uniform Options

Tennessee was in its all-black ‘Dark Mode’ alternate uniform Saturday night, in the 28-18 win over Kentucky at Neyland Stadium. The Vols had worn their traditional home look, with orange jerseys and white pants, the previous two weeks, in the 23-17 overtime win over Florida and the 24-17 win over Alabama.

Alternate uniforms have been a constant during the Josh Heupel era. The Vols introduced their Dark Mode alternate uniform in 2021, with black pants and black jerseys, with orange numbers and orange pants stripes. An all-black helmet, with an orange Power T and orange helmet stripe, was added in 2022.
