Rocky Top Roundtable: North Carolina State
Tennessee travels to Charlotte on Saturday night to battle North Carolina State in an early season test for the Vols. This week’s edition of the Rocky Top Roundtable breaks down the matchup between the Vols and Wolfpack.
“Maybe I’m biased but I’ll be surprised if Tennessee doesn’t have more,” Rob Lewis said of the fan turnout. “The fact it’s NC State and the game is in Charlotte gives you some pause but I still will be surprised if Big Orange Nation isn’t in the majority.”
A week after setting a school record for passing yards in a half with 314, Nico Iamaleava will look to continue his impressive play against a Wolfpack team that has experience in the secondary.
“I thought maybe the best comment and there has been tons of stuff on social media all week long from analysts and former players but maybe the best quote was Kelsey Pope on what’s it’s like for the receivers to play with Nico,” Brent Hubbs said.

“I thought he was in total command. I think they are going to play really fast on Saturday. I think they are going to try and tax NC State right out of the gate. I think tempo could be a factor in this game and I like the tempo Nico had them playing with on Saturday.”
And Iamaleava has been one cool customer for the Vols.
“There are so many guys that want to be part of this explosive offense and want to be part of what Nico is doing at quarterback,” Eric Cain said. “We will see from week one to week two as the competition is going to get greater. I think everyone is excited to play with Nico.”
Tennessee and North Carolina State will both look to stay unbeaten in the Queen City at 7:45 Saturday night.
