Rocky Top Roundtable: Ohio State
Tennessee and Ohio State will square off as the marquee matchup of the first round of the college football playoff this weekend. It’s a Tennessee program that set their sites on making the playoff and accomplished just that after going 10-2 in the regular season.
“It’s should be a lot of fun,” Brent Hubbs said. “It’s what you play for and workout for all year long. It’s an interesting matchup and we have the weather variable that everyone is going to talk about. What does that mean? What does that not mean? And then you have an Ohio State team that’s hard to get a handle on because of the last impression from that Michigan game. That’s probably not who they are.”
This Ohio State team lost two games all year long with one coming against top ranked Oregon and the other coming against Michigan and the regular season finale.

“I think this is two pretty similar teams,” Eric Cain said, “I’m not saying Ohio State is the best team in the country but the more real version of Ohio State was not what we saw against Michigan. It’s a team that tries to run the football. It’s not as good as Tennessee, but they have two really good backs. It’s two defenses that really get after it. Two defenses that get after it on third down and are really good in the red zone. Tennessee has the best third down defense in the college football playoff. It’s two teams that have weapons on the outside and Ohio State has had more success in that regard this year.”
