Rocky Top Roundtable - Oklahoma

Tennessee travels to Oklahoma on Saturday to take on the Sooners in a top-25 matchup in Norman. The staff at Volquest feel like Tennessee has built momentum with a 3-0 start.

“I think they are better at linebacker than I thought they would be,” Brent Hubbs said. “The defensive line is what I thought they would be. I think the diversity of this offense when you talk about two tight end sets and playing four wide receivers, they have a lot more diversity than we have seen in years past.”

Getting Nico Iamaleava going in his first road game will be paramount.

“I don’t think he has to hit a big play to go I’m okay, I’m good on the road,” Hubbs said. “I don’t think they have to dominate in the run game to take the pressure off him. I think they have to play their game. They dictate so well to what defenses can do. I think the question is can they keep him out of third and long so Brent Venables can’t junk it up on him? I think that’s is the biggest thing Nico needs early in this game.”

So how does Oklahoma attack Tennessee on offense?

“I think he throws different looks at him early but I think he is going to eventually settle into I’m not dying by death by paper cut with six yard run and seven yard run,” Austin Price said. “I think he is going to say if you are going to beat me, you are going to beat me with the young quarterback. See if the crowd makes enough of an impression on Nico that it alters him and how he plays.”
