Tennessee hosts senior day on Saturday against Vanderbilt. The Commodores are coming off a bye at 2-9 and looking to play their best game of the year but can they do it?

“I don’t know what you are going to get?” Brent Hubbs said. “If you are Vanderbilt, you are 2-9 and just had an open date and have to come back out for four days of practice on Thanksgiving and travel to Knoxville to take on Tennessee. On the flip side Tennessee isn’t where they want to be so I’m fascinated to see the emotions at the start of this one on both sides.”

Vol quarterback Joe Milton was relatively ineffective last week against Georgia. It’s his final game at Neyland Stadium and throwing with more accuracy will be something to watch.

“Efficiency and making plays show up a lot of places but they show up on 2 of 11 on third down,” Rob Lewis said. “Coach Heupel harped on that after the game on Saturday and after watching the tape on Monday. A lot of that is the run game, getting off schedule and inaccuracy from the quarterback. The bottom line is there a lot of things that go into it. It’s not just Joe Milton but he hasn’t been good enough.”

Vanderbilt has struggled to stop the run this season and so the running lanes should be open in this one.

“A story line for this game as we get closer to Saturday is who are some of the guys that will be blocking for Jaylen Wright, Jabari Small and Dylan Sampson?” Eric Cain said. “Javontez Spraggins will not be there. He is out for the season. John Campbell and Gerald Mincey, Josh Heupel made mention he is hopeful they will be able to go, Dayne Davis went down towards the end. I think even with some of the reserves you should be able to run against Vanderbilt they have been so bad.”
