Rocky Top Roundtable: Vanderbilt

Tennessee travels to Nashville on Saturday for a noon eastern kickoff with Vanderbilt. It’s a Commodore program that’s already bowl eligible and hoping to play spoiler for Tennessee.
“This is what you want the last regular season game to be,” Brent Hubbs said. “It’s meaningful and Vanderbilt’s case it’s an opportunity to knock Tennessee out and in Tennessee’s case it’s a chance to go to the playoffs. When you start working out in January, you are looking for a game that counts at the end and that’s what Tennessee has.”
An early kick means Tennessee doesn’t have to sit around and wait all day for this very meaningful game. Nico Iamaleava will look to start faster this week.

“He didn’t get himself going because the first play is a huge play if he hits Squirrel White,” Brent Hubbs said. “Then after that it felt like they were trying to be really pretty and hit all kinds of vertical shots. I think you have to look more at that Georgia plan. This isn’t a beauty contest. Last week was a beauty contest. You had to win big and show everybody on the ticker that you were up big early. This is just win and you are in. This is just more of the Georgia plan this week. Get him some easy stuff and get him going that way. That would be what I would do.”
