Savion Hiter recaps Dark Mode environment on Tennessee visit
Watching Tennessee run the rock of late should be pretty appealing to any running back prospect. Mineral, Virginia tailback Savion Hiter was in town over the weekend and left feeling good about what he witnessed.
“It was electric,” Hiter said. “I mean, people are just together as a family, cheering for everybody and everybody rooting for Tennessee… I expected big out of Tennessee, and I got what I expected.”
He was here a few months ago but being back for a game was very important to him and his family.
“It was pretty great to be here again,” Hiter said. “I came here my freshman year in the summertime, but it was good to be here for a game-day visit and see how the environment was.”
Tennessee was drenched in their Dark Mode uniforms and he loved how they looked.
“I mean, it’s beautiful,” he said. “It’s probably one of the best jersey combos in the SEC.”
Tennessee running backs coach De’Rail Sims and head coach Josh Heupel spent some time with him once he got to campus. They have made sure he knows they covet him in orange.
“I mean, I’m a priority to them,” Hiter said. “I feel like they made it known that they want me, and I made it known that they’re one of my top schools right now.
“I have the best relationship with them the most since my freshman year, and I built it with Coach (Aston) Walter and I had it with Coach (Jerry) Mack before Coach Sims came. And now I have it with Coach Sims.”
And the fact Tennessee has a balanced running attack with several good backs is something that stands out to him.

“They have multiple options with (DeSean) Bishop, Peyton Lewis and Dylan Sampson,” Hiter said. “And I’m trying to be something like Dylan Sampson that breaks the touchdown record for Tennessee.”
He believes he could be a good fit for Tennessee’s offense as well after watching Dylan Sampson do this thing Saturday night.
“I mean, I feel like I can run it really well, as well as Dylan Sampson, as he does,” he said. “I mean, he just goes through the line just perfectly, and I feel like I could do the same.”
So where do the Vols stand after this most recent trip?
“They’re definitely at the top of my list,” Hiter said. “I don’t know, like, where specifically. But, yeah, they’re at the top of my list.”
