Tennessee Football’s defensive line is expected to be a strength for Josh Heupel’s team heading into the 2024 season. The veteran-led group is deep and talented, and one of those players expected to make an impact this fall for the Vols is Omarr Norman-Lott.

On Tuesday, Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy shared high praise on social media for Norman- Lott via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Now that we’re working thru DL group, strong case could be made that twitched-up @Vol_Football DT Omarr Norman-Lott is 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙂𝙐𝙔 on defense,” Nagy wrote on his social media. “Former four-star transfer from Arizona State @LottOmarr is an athletic 3-tech who immediately got our attention during summer tape study with his disruptive win-early upfield quickness & chase range, which he shows off below.

“With NFL teams putting so much emphasis on inside rushers who can affect the QB, we think Norman-Lott, who had 5.5 sacks last year as backup, will steadily rise up draft boards this fall.”

Norman-Lott played a key role last season for the Vols when he was healthy. He played in ten games in his debut season with two starts. Norman-Lott recorded 26 total tackles, six tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks during the season. He also recovered a fumble. Earlier this year, Norman-Lott was selected third-team All-SEC by Phil Steele.

During the spring, sophomore Tennessee defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs praised Norman-Lott as one of the veterans who has continued to help him throughout his development.

“I have guys like Big O (Omari Thomas), Big E (Elijah Simmons), Omarr (Norman-Lott), Bryson (Eason), they help me a lot. Whenever I get done with a rep, they will come up to me and tell me what I have to do, what I should have done or if it was a good rep. So, I always have them. They are always a big help.

“When we watch film, I am always watching them. I have a good set of guys to study their games off of and help me build mine. They are doing a good job of helping me out, I feel like. (We are) very deep this year. We have three or four legit groups upfront. I think it will be a good year again.”
