Josh Heupel updates the injury status of Tennessee WR Squirrel White

The bye week came at a good time for Squirrel White. Tennessee’s junior receiver left the 24-17 win over Alabama after aggravating a shoulder injury, but isn’t expected to miss time according to head coach Josh Heupel.
“Feel like Squirrel will be ready to roll and when we get to the next football game,” Heupel said during his press conference on Wednesday. “He was limited today.”
No. 7 Tennessee (6-1, 3-1 SEC) is off this week and is back home to host Kentucky at Neyland Stadium next Saturday.
Squirrel White this season: 20 catches, 230 yards
White suffered the shoulder injury in the 19-14 loss at Arkansas on October 5, seen after the game wearing a sling. He played 30 snaps against Florida a week later, though, and 27 more against Alabama on Saturday.
He left Saturday’s game after running a deep route and diving for a pass from Nico Iamaleava, landing hard on his injured shoulder.
“(He’s) one of those guys (that) has been dinged up a little bit,” Heupel said, “but (I) feel like he’ll be ready to roll.”
Saturday’s game against Alabama was the first that White didn’t record a catch. He had a season-high seven catches at Arkansas for 38 yards and had a season-high 71 yards two weeks ago against Florida.

White combined for five catches for 100 yards over the first three games, wins against Chattanooga, NC State and Kent State, and had three catches for 13 yards at Oklahoma.
White is tied for the team lead in receptions (20) and fourth in yards (230).
Bru McCoy led Tennessee in receiving in win over Alabama
Bru McCoy, who is dealing with a finger injury of his own suffered at Arkansas, led Tennessee against Alabama with five catches for 80 yards. Dont’e Thornton caught three passes for 70 yards, including a 55-yard deep shot on a third down in the second half.
Chris Brazzell caught two passes for 27 yards, hauling in the go-ahead 16-yard touchdown with 5:52 left in the fourth quarter on a slot fade to the back of the end zone.
Iamaleava competed 14 of 27 passes for 194 yards with a touchdown and interception and also ran nine times for 44 yards. Dylan Sampson carried 26 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns, leading a rushing attack that finished with 214 yards and two scores on the ground on 43 attempts.
The 19-14 loss at Arkansas followed Tennessee’s first bye week of the season.
“Obviously after the last bye week we didn’t play very well,” Heupel said on Monday. “(We’re) being intentional in how we work and how we prepare this week, try to correct some things that we have control with and continue to try to get better as a football team. So thought it was good work (on Wednesday). Got to continue that.”
