Texas tight end Jack Van Dorselaer has been committed to Tennessee for 11 months, so today’s early signing period was a long-time coming for him to put pen to paper. Moments ago, he sent his letter of intent to Tennessee and is officially a Volunteer.

“I am super excited to put pen to paper and get to work for the University of Tennessee,” Van Dorsleaer told Volquest. “I am ready to put my head down and just work. This recruiting process has been a blessing but it has also been tough at times. I am ready to get back to work and am super excited for my friends and family to be in town for this signing day.”

Van Dorselaer will be an early enrollee at Tennessee sometime over the next month, and he is excited to get rolling on Rocky Top.

“I am just hoping to prove that I am a great football player and just want to come in there and contribute to the team the best way I can,” Van Dorselaer said of this. “Go out there and start making plays early. I feel like that is probably one of my biggest goals coming in here. Just getting the college football experience and an SEC experience. I am excited to experience something different and play for the University of Tennessee and play for Coach Abe and Coach Halze and Heupel and the other recruits I have been talking with like DaSaahn and George. Having fun with it. This is a stressful game, but I feel like the guys I am surrounded by are going to make it a great time and help me have the chance to grow and become a great football player.”

The three-star prospect could end up at Knoxville in December or in January depending on how things shake out in the state playoffs for his Southlake Carroll team. As he finishes out his senior season, he is proud of his growth as a football player.

“Personally, I am a tight end and have been a tight end my whole high school career, but Coach Dodge asked me to play some defense this year to help the team, too, and I took that role and feel like I have grown a lot as a football player,” Van Doreselaer said. “I feel like it was the best way for me to help out my team, and I feel like doing that has grown me as a football player and doing what is best for the team.”

The Scout on Van Dorselaer

“Jack VanDorselaer is a versatile tight end,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said at the time of his commitment in January. “One who I think can a lot of different things within an offense. He plays all of the formation at Southlake Carroll. Both in-line and detached as an H-Back. He has a very well rounded skill set. First off, pleasant surprise as a blocker. He blocks with great technique. Gets underneath defenders and creates a push. Moves well at the second level, in addition to his receiving ability which I think is promising as well. He can run routes. Natural pass-catcher. Shows good athleticism after the catch.”
