Tennessee Football announces date for Orange & White Game at Neyland Stadium
Tennessee Football’s Orange & White Game will be played April 12 at Neyland Stadium. The Vols announced the date for the annual split-squad spring scrimmage on Thursday.
Start time and broadcast information has not yet been announced.
White won 21-14 against Orange a year ago, when Neyland Stadium renovations limited the fan capacity to 10,000.
Nico Iamaleava threw for 96 yards and a touchdown and Mike Matthews and Chris Brazzell caught touchdown passes in the second half. The Matthews touchdown went for 63 yards on a pass from Gaston Moore and Brazzell’s was 71 from freshman Jake Merklinger.
Tennessee opens the 2025 season against Syracuse on August 30 in Atlanta in the Aflac Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Vols host ETSU in the home opener at Neyland Stadium on September 6 and SEC play starts at home against Georgia on September 13. UAB comes to Knoxville on September 20 and the Vols go to Mississippi State on September 27 in the first SEC road game of the season.
After an open date on October 4, Tennessee hosts Arkansas (October 11) then goes to Alabama (October 18) and Kentucky (October 25). In November the Vols host Oklahoma (November 1) and New Mexico State (November 15), go to Florida (November 22) and close the regular-season schedule at home against Vanderbilt (November 29).

On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman on Monday had Tennessee at No. 13 in their Way-Too-Early Top 25 for the 2025 season.
Texas came in at No. 1 ahead of No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 Notre Dame. Georgia was ranked No. 6, Illinois was No. 7, South Carolina was No. 8, Florida was No. 9 and Clemson was No. 10. Also ahead of the Vols were No. 11 Auburn and No. 12 Michigan.
“The Volunteers lose a lot of talent from their defensive line,” Staples wrote, “but they were absurdly deep. Joshua Josephs (nine tackles for loss in 2024) takes over for James Pearce Jr. at the LEO edge rusher position. Tackle Jaxson Moi was supposed to redshirt 2024, but the Vols couldn’t keep him off the field.
“As the Ohio State loss highlighted, QB Nico Iamaleava needs some dynamic targets to emerge. Can sophomore Mike Matthews be that guy?”
