Tim Banks discussed the growth of his defense and their preparations for Clemson
Tennessee’s defense show statistical improvement in 2022 compared to 2021. The last time defensive coordinator Tim Banks‘ squad took the field they pitched a shut out at Vanderbilt.
Tuesday, the Vols continued their preparations for Clemson in the Orange Bowl on December 30th. Banks’ defense hasn’t had any opt outs and they have gotten healthier especially in the secondary where Tennessee has had plenty of struggles this season.
The Tigers are 11-2 and coming off an ACC Championship game win beating North Carolina 39-10. Clemson had a different look offensively in the win as freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik came on in relief of D.J. Uiagalelei, who has since transferred out of the program. Klubnik went 20 of 24 for 279 yards and a touchdown. He also led the Tigers in rushing.
