Tennessee baseball is off to a historic start in 2025, beginning the season with a 20-0 record and sweeping the Florida Gators to begin Southeastern Conference play this past weekend.

The past two weeks, the Vols have been ranked the top-team in the country in four of the five major polls. The only publication that didn’t have Tennessee as the top-team in the land was D1 Baseball.

That changed Monday morning when D1 Baseball flipped Tennessee and LSU atop its weekly poll.

The Tigers (20-1) dropped to No. 2 in the D1 Baseball rankings following a weekend sweep of the Missouri Tigers. LSU’s lone loss of the season came on February 22 in a 5-4 decision to Omaha. Tennessee is the only undefeated team left in the country and it is the first time in the history of the D1 Baseball rankings (since 2015) that the No. 1 team dropped following an undefeated week.

“Tennessee’s five-week dominance and marquee series sweep of Florida proved enough to overcome poll mechanics and precedent,” D1 Baseball said.

Arkansas, Georgia and Florida State remained at No. 3-5 while Oregon State jumped up two spots to No. 6. Clemson and Texas moved up three spots to No. 7-8 while Oregon stayed put at No. 9. Oklahoma jumped to No.10 from No. 12 in last week’s rankings.

According to D1 Baseball’s new top-25 poll, the rankings system this website uses, the SEC has 11 teams showcased while Texas A&M just dropped out of the poll this week. The top-four teams in the country hail from the conference while the SEC makes up six of the top-10 teams.

Perfect Game, Baseball America and USA TODAY (Coaches Poll). The NCBWA, which hasn’t been updated in two weeks, had the Vols as the No. 1 ranked team on March 3.
