Tennessee baseball ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today Coaches Poll

Tennessee baseball is back to No. 1 in the country in the updated USA Today Coaches Poll. The Vols moved up in four of the national polls following a perfect second week of action to begin the 2025 season.
UT jumps Texas A&M in the coaches poll after the Aggies dropped a weekend contest to Cal Poly.
The Vols also moved up one spot to No. 3 (D1 Baseball), No. 2 (Baseball America) and No. 4 (Perfect Game). The updated NCBWA poll has not yet been released.
Volquest follows the D1 Baseball poll for rankings on the site. According to the publication, the Vols are still behind Texas A&M (No. 1) and LSU (No. 2) despite both teams dropping one home game on the week. The Aggies came up short against Cal Poly 3-2 on Sunday while LSU dropped a 5-4 decision to Omaha on Saturday. Both teams still won their weekend series, 2-1.
Arkansas, who also dropped a game last week, moved up one spot to No. 4 while North Carolina, Georgia, Florida State and Florida checked in from No. 5-8. Oregon State, who lost two games, dropped two spots back to No. 9. Virginia was the biggest loser from the past week with a 1-2 record. The Cavaliers dropped from No. 2 down to No. 10.
Tennessee went 4-0 on the week with two more run-rule victories, bringing the total to five in seven games to begin the 2025 season. The Vols outscored opponents 52-9 on the week and tied a Tony Vitello era program record with 29 runs against UNC Asheville on Tuesday.

Through seven games, Tennessee has outscored its opponents 98-11. The offense has launched 20 home runs, including four grand slams, walked 69 times and average 14 runs a contest. The pitching staff has surrendered just eight earned runs off 23 hits while striking out 87 batters and walking 15. The bullpen alone has allowed just three runs so far this season.
Tennessee’s biggest test to date is coming up this weekend in Houston at the Astros Foundation College Classic that is set to be played at Daikin Park, formerly known as Minute Maid Park. The Vols are set to take on Oklahoma State, rice and Arizona.
