Tennessee first-year shortstop Dean Curley has been named a Freshman All-American by D1 Baseball following a standout first year in Knoxville with the Vols.

The middle infielder was named to the second-team. He joins pitcher Dylan Loy, who was also named a second-team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association back in June. Curley becomes the seventh Tennessee player who has earned All-American postseason honors since winning the national championship in June.

Having already been named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team at the end of the regular season, Curley turned in a fine debut season for Tennessee. The La Verne, Calif. native jumped int the starting lineup four games into the season and never looked back, registering a .285 clip at the plate with 12 home runs, 50 runs batted in, 51 runs scored, 10 doubles, nine stolen bases and 31 walks.

Over 12 postseason games for the Vols this summer, Curley hit for a respectable .318 average with three homers and 12 RBI, which tied for third on the team during the stretch. In Omaha for the six-game stretch at the College World Series, Curley hit a shade under .400 at .391 with two doubles and four RBI.
