Tennessee coordinators Tim Banks and Alex Golesh on growing from the Georgia loss
Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh met with the media on Tuesday as the Vols turn their attention from Saturday’s loss to Georgia to this week’s home finale against Missouri.
The Vol offense had a challenging day in Athens as Georgia’s defense gave Tennessee problems that other defenses haven’t been able to give them and the Vols didn’t help themselves with way too many self-inflicted wounds.
For Golesh and the Vol offense is all about growing and learning from last week as they enter their final three game stretch with plenty to play for including a possible birth in the college football playoff.
Banks’ defense looking to clean things up
Defensive coordinator Tim Banks also visited with the media on Tuesday to discuss his squad’s continued growth and growth he is looking for this week against a Missouri offense that has struggled to score most of the season.

For Banks’ defense one of the big challenges this week is to eliminate the chunks plays. Tennessee gave up three pass plays of 35+ yards which set up 3 touchdowns for the Bulldogs in Georgia’s win.
First glance
For the first time this season, the Vols are looking to bounce back from a loss suffered the week prior. Tennessee’s 27-13 shortcoming at Georgia pushed the Vols back to No. 5 in the latest Coaches and AP Poll, and it will be interesting to see where the College Football Playoff committee places them tomorrow night with mass chaos happening inside the top-10 this past Saturday.
“That’s the great thing about this sport, is that you only get one opportunity. You play 10 times, it unfolds differently 10 times every time,” Josh Heupel said at his Monday press conference. “For us, let’s go back and control what we can control, which is how we prepare, how we practice and how we go play this Saturday. As a competitor, you’re only as good as the next one. You guys have heard me say that. It’s true after a win and true after a loss. For us as a program, it’s time to get better.”
