The Vols won three of four between 2001 and 2004, including wins in Gainesville in 2001 and 2023, and won 20-17 in overtime in 1998 on the way to a 13-0 season and the BCS national championship.

Billy Napier is 13-16 through 29 games as Florida’s head coach

Billy Napier’s days at Florida could be numbered after this season’s 2-2 start, coupled with a 6-7 record in 2022 and a 5-7 record last season. Napier is 13-16 overall and just 7-11 in SEC play.

The Gators this week play Central Florida at home before making the trip to Tennessee.

After facing the Vols on the road, Florida plays Kentucky at home, faces No. 5 Georgia in Jacksonville and goes to No. 2 Texas. After that it’s No. 13 LSU and No. 12 Ole Miss in Gainesville before facing Florida State on the road in the regular-season finale on November 30.
