Tennessee’s bowl preparations continued on Saturday as the Vols with 15 newcomers shift fully into Clemson game planning on Monday. 

The Vols will workout Monday-Thursday next week before breaking for Christmas and heading to Miami Christmas afternoon. 

Here are a few snapshots of the Vols workout Saturday morning.

Freshman Tayven Jackson is back practicing and Josh Heupel said if he stays on the path he is on now then Jackson should be available. Jackson hasn’t played since breaking his collarbone in the fourth quarter of the Akron game.

Freshman Vysen Lang arrived in Knoxville on Thursday to begin his college career on the offensive line

Receiver Bru McCoy is back to work in a non-contact jersey as the Vols prepare for Clemson. McCoy missed the Vanderbilt game with an abdominal injury. McCoy will lead the Vol receiving corp as Cedric Tillman and Jaylin Hyatt both have opted out.

Five star quarterback Nico Iamaleava shows off his arm in routes versus air as the talented freshman works to get acclimated to the college football by participating in bowl preparations.

Five star quarterback Nico Iamaleava takes instruction from quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle. Iamaleava arrived earlier this week along with 14 other mid-term enrollees and will join them in Miami for the Orange Bowl.

Freshman offensive guard Masai Reddick awaits his next rep. Josh Heupel said part of the early emphasis in bowl practice has been on the development of young players like Reddick

Freshman running back Dylan Sampson gets in drill work on Saturday. Sampson rushed for over 100 yards in his last outing at Vanderbilt. Sampson has shown continued growth throughout the season.

Georgia four star offensive lineman Shamurad Umarov looks on in offensive line work. Umarov arrived earlier this week and could be a factor at offensive tackle in spring practice as the Vols look to replace Darnell Wright who’s off to the NFL.

Running back Jabari Small warms up Saturday morning. Small remains in a red non-contact jersey as he continues to battle a nagging shoulder injury. Heupel said on Saturday he expects his team to be healthy when they arrive in Miami Christmas Day night.

Tennessee leading rusher Jaylen Wright awaits his rep during bowl preparations. Wright, who is the Vols’ leading rusher, is also in a pre-cautionary non contact jersey.
