The Volquest stock report
Tennessee is 5-1 after a huge home win over Texas A&M in a very unlike fashion as the line of scrimmage and the kicking game proved to be the difference. It’s time for the weekly stock report, it’s who’s up, who’s down, and who’s flat as the Vols head to Tuscaloosa for their annual third Saturday in October showdown with Alabama.
Stock up
The run game—I said last week that the run game was stagnant despite leading the SEC in rushing. Saturday, the Vols played a Texas A&M team that was elite at stopping the run. Tennessee’s offensive line and running backs gashed them to the tune of 232 yards. I am so impressed with the way Jaylen Wright is playing right now. His yards after contact are elite numbers and his patience at the line of scrimmage is really good. — Brent Hubbs
Jaylen Wright — Wright just continues to be outstanding for Josh Heupel when he gets touches. His yards per attempt is insane for half the season at over seven yards per carry. He continues to drag defenders as he piles up a ton of yards after contact.
Kamal Hadden — Kamal deserves to be stock up with how he is playing. That’s why I went with two stock ups this week. He has been Tennessee’s best corner with three interceptions on the year and continues to make plays. — Austin Price

Red zone offense—Tennessee was 3 of 5 in the redzone on Saturday with two field goals and a touchdown. The Vols started the season a perfect 7 for 7 with 7 touchdowns against Virginia. Since then it’s been a struggle finding the end zone inside the 20. Tennessee has just 10 touchdowns in their last 22 red zone trips. — Brent Hubbs
Joe Milton — How can It not be Milton? Most people I know root hard for him but 50% completion percentage and 100 passing yards against a secondary that has struggled is pretty bad in my opinion. I’m not sure what it will take to get going but a lack of playmakers also doesn’t help. — Austin Price

Tennessee’s road game communication—The last time we saw Tennessee on the road it was a rough night with 10 pre-snap penalties on offense putting the Vols behind the sticks. Tennessee struggled in hostile environments last season as well. Can Tennessee operate cleanly in a loud stadium. — Brent Hubbs
