Tennessee on full display during Pro Day is a win for now and later
Tennessee was a focal point for the NFL world on Thursday as the Vols held their Pro Day. The Vols generated plenty of buzz thanks to an 11 win season. That buzz continues as all 32 NFL teams including a head coach were on hand to watch guys workout. The NFL network and NFL Films were in town as well.
Tennessee has five players currently projected to be taken in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft the last weekend in April. Darnell Wright is projected as a first round pick. If five are selected in the top three rounds that would be the most since 2007 and it would mark the third time since 2000 that many players were chosen that early.

For head coach Josh Heupel, it’s a huge win for his program. It shows development of players in his program which is important for the current players on his team and the publicity gets everyone’s attention in recruiting making day a win on all fronts for the Vols.
“We have really good players here who are getting developed at an elite level,” Heupel said. “Structurally what we do offensively, defensively and on special teams is giving guys a chance to show their physical attributes and also stressing them and growing them in their understanding of concepts. That will all translate to the next level. This group of guys, we are going to have a lot of high draft picks, the guys we are recruiting and the development we have here we will continue to have that (high picks).”
