For the second consecutive game, Tennessee didn’t score a point in the first half. For the second consecutive game, Tennessee tallied double digit points in the third quarter ( fill in his game ended). After the game, select Tennessee players met the media to discuss the game,

Dylan Sampson ran six yards for a touchdown on fourth-and-1 late in the third quarter to get the Vols on the board at long last. The Tennessee touchdown drive went 75 yards in 11 plays, answering the Florida touchdown in 4:21.

He also ran 23 yards for a touchdown to put the Vols up in the fourth quarter after Tennessee took possession at the Florida 29. The Vols forced Florida to punt out of its own end zone and Jermod McCoy returned it 17 yards to set his team up in scoring position.Sampson continues his pace to set the Tennessee record for rushing touchdowns in a season.

Nico Iamaleava struggled mightily in the first half by missing multiple wide receivers on deep routes and stared down his target and threw into triple coverage for a bad interception that led to no Gators points.

“Feels great,” the quarterback said of the defense. “They are doing a great job and we need to do a better job of complimenting them.”

Tennessee’s defense stepped up time and time again. Florida had the ball inside the Tennessee 25-yard line but came away with just three points. Mertz fumbled on the 1-yard line, stripped by James Pearce Jr., and the Gators were stopped on fourth-and-1 at the Tennessee 18 when Rickey Gibson III came up with a tackle for loss.

“I saw him trying to reach. Gameplan said he would try to sneak it,” Pearce said. “Great birthday present for me.”

Arion Carter intercepted DJ Lagway on first down on Florida’s following possession and returned it to the Florida 20. The Vols went three-and-out but Max Gilbert tied the game with a 35-yard field goal.
