Hendon Hooker suffers a torn ACL ending his college career
As thought last night leaving Columbia, South Carolina, senior quarterback Hendon Hooker’s college career is over after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee.
Tennessee confirmed the news on their social media accounts Sunday evening.
Hooker’s knee buckled in a non-contact situation as he was running an option play in the fourth quarter of Tennessee’s 63-38 loss at South Carolina. Hooker fumbled the ball as he clutched his knee falling to the ground. After being examined on the sidelines, Hooker gingerly made it was to the locker room. Test on Sunday confirmed the news. Hooker was 25-42 for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns.
“Man, it was probably one of the worst things I’ve seen out there,” Tennessee offensive lineman Jerome Carvin said afterward. “Just knowing how hard he works. Hardest working guy I’ve ever seen, I’ve ever played with.
“It’s so unfortunate to happen to a guy like that. But if I know anything, I know he’ll bounce back from it for sure. He’s a warrior. I know he will.”
Hooker’s rise to stardom at Tennessee has been a national story and one of best feel good stories in college football.
