Tennessee basketball fast break

Tennessee found themselves in some unfamiliar territory on Monday night as they were down six at the half to MTSU: Final score Tennessee 82 MTSU 64

Whatever messaged was sent at the half, it was received as Tennessee outscored the Blue Raiders by 24 in the second half holding them to just one made field goal in the final 11 attempts.

After shooting 50% in the first half from the field, MTSU shot just 29.6% in the second half.

Offensively, Chaz Lanier led the way with 23 points including 5 of 10 from beyond the 3 point line. Zakai Zeigler had 17 points and 15 assists in 38 minutes of play. After a scoreless first half Jordan Gainey had 10 on 4 of 6 from the field including 2 of 2 from 3pt land.

MTSU (9-4) got 23 from Camryn Weston, who had 17 points in the first half and Kamari Lands scored 10 points.

The win moves Tennessee to 12-0 but depth concerns continue to grow.  Freshman Bishop Boswell didn’t play due to a sore shoulder. And earlier in on Monday, news broke that sophomore Cam Carr has elected to leave the team and will enter the transfer portal in April.
