How it Happened: Tennessee drills Alabama in conference opener, 11-3
Tennessee utilized the longball and the right arm of AJ Causey to cruise Friday night in the Southeastern Conference opener, 11-3 over Alabama.
The Vols (18-1) have now won 17-straight games which is now the official second-longest win-streak in program history and the longest current win-streak in the country. Tennessee finished the ballgame scoring 11 runs off 12 hits – smashing a trio of two-run home runs along the way. Alabama (15-3) blasted back-to-back home runs in the first inning but that was it as far as excitement. The Crimson Tide tapped out at three runs off seven hits.
Causey (4-0) earns the victory after tossing 6.1 inning so two-run baseball, allowing six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk on 111 pitches with 76 strikes. Ben Hess (3-1) takes home the loss after allowing four runs off two hits in 3.2 innings pitched, where he tossed 83 pitches with 45 strikes.
