How it Happened: Tennessee homers way to 10-0 run-rule win over Belmont
Three solo home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning paved the way for Tennessee to run-rule Belmont 10-0 in the final midweek affair of the regular season on Tuesday from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Christian Moore’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning tied VFL Sonny Cortez for the single season program record of home runs with 24. Colby Backus and Reese Chapman also homered in the inning as well.
The No. 1 Vols (43-10) plated five run sin the first, two in the third and three more in the sixth to run away from Belmont (24-28) easily.
JJ Garcia(3-0) is the winner on the mound in this one after tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball. Jordan Zuger (1-2) is the losing pitcher on the night after allowing the five first inning runs on five hits over just two innings of work on the mound.
Tennessee returns to Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Thursday to being the regular season ending series against South Carolina. But first, here’s how it all went down in this one.
