Tennessee second baseman Christian Moore’s historic junior campaign just keeps getting better as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced on Friday that he’s been named the National Player of the Month for April.

The slugger is second on the squad with a .375 batting average and has launched a program-best 20 homers with 10 coming in the month of April. Moore is the program leader in the category as well with 47 home runs, as he passed teammate Blake Burke on April 21 with a three-homer day at Kentucky.

“That was pretty ridiculous, to be honest with you. There’s no real words to put into it,” Tennessee skipper Tony Vitello said after the record-breaking performance against the Wildcats. “He’s had a lot of moments and he’s bound to have more – especially at the big league level. We are fortunate to have him in the dugout.”

Moore totaled nearly half (28) of his 66 hits on the season in the month thanks to nine multi-hit ballgames. The slugger registered multi-hit days in all three games against Auburn from April 5-7, two of such against LSU from April 12-14, twice (both four-hit days) against Kentucky and twice more against Missouri from April 25-27.

The infielder racked up seven multi-RBI games during the month with a total of 26, as Moore has driven in 46 total on the season.

Tennessee’s home run leader was recently slated at No. 52 in the updated MLB Pipeline Draft Prospect Rankings. Moore has simply been on fire in Southeastern Conference play with a .424 average across 92 at-bats in 21 games. He’s logged an incredible 14 home runs with 29 RBI inside conference play as well – leading the squad.

For the month of April alone, Moore was twice named the SEC Player of the Week and picked up national weekly honors from Perfect Game and D1 Baseball as well.

Moore and the rest of his teammates will take part in a doubleheader on Friday against Florida, beginning at 3 pm eastern time. Game three of the series will follow on Saturday at 6:30 pm ET.
