Christian Moore named Co-SEC Player of the Week
Tennessee second baseman Christian Moore has been named the Co-Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for his efforts over a 2-1 week for the Volunteers where the squad picked up a series-win on the road at Auburn.
Moore is now the fourth Tennessee player to receive weekly honors from the league this season. AJ Causey was named the Co-Pitcher of the Week on February 19, third baseman Billy Amick was tabbed the SEC Player of the Week on March 4 and Dean Curley was awarded SEC Freshman of the Week on March 11.
The junior tallied a 7-for-14 (.500) clip at the plate during the series with three home runs – one of which was a grand slam – 10 RBI, five runs scored and one walk. Moore struck out only twice in 14 at-bats during the series while logging multi-hit days in all three games.
In Friday’s 9-5 game one loss, Moore smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the ballgame at 5-5. On Saturday, the second baseman launched a grand slam in the second inning and laced a two-run double to the gap in left-center, a part of a 6 RBI day. In game three, the junior homered in the second and produced an RBI double in the fifth.
