Tennessee Baseball still has the third-lowest odds to win the College World Series, according to odds from FanDuel. The Vols are +700 to repeat as national championship, behind only Arkansas at +470 and LSU at +550.

Texas is just behind Tennessee at +850, while Texas A&M is +1350 and Georgia is +1500.

Tennessee (38-11, 14-10) starts a weekend series against Vanderbilt (34-15, 14-10) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time on SEC Network at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The two teams will meet at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday and 3 p.n. ET on Sunday, with both of the final two games of the series televised by ESPN2.

FanDuel has Tennessee is -1.5 against Vanderbilt in Friday’s series opener.

Tennessee looking to bounce back after three straight SEC series losses

The Vols have lost three straight SEC series — Kentucky, at Auburn and LSU — and four of their last five, dating back to a Texas A&M series win April 4-6 in Knoxville.

The frustrations follow an unprecedented 2024 season that ended with Tennessee first national championship in program history — the Vols beat Texas A&M in three games in the College World Series final — while becoming the first SEC team to win 60 games, going 60-13.

Tennessee is currently tied for fifth in the SEC standings with Vanderbilt. The Vols are five games back of first-place Texas, three games back of second-place Arkansas and one game back of both Georgia and LSU.

After hosting Vanderbilt, Tennessee closes the regular-season schedule with Tuesday’s home finale vs. Belmont, then goes on the road to Arkansas for the final SEC series. The SEC Tournament starts May 20 in Hoover, Ala., and the NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed on May 26 at Noon ET on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Where Tennessee Baseball is projected in the NCAA Tournament

On3’s Jonathan Wagner this week had the Vols as the No. 14 overall seed, hosing a Knoxville Regional that also includes No. 2 TCU, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Columbia.

“All of a sudden,” Wagner wrote, “Tennessee is in serious danger of falling out of the hosting picture, though they hold on in this week’s Field of 64. The Vols have lost three straight series and four of their last five weekends, now at 37-11 overall, 14-10 in the SEC and No. 14 in RPI.”

D1Baseball.com has Tennessee as the No. 9 overall seed, hosting No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 East Tennessee State and No. 4 Kent State in the Knoxville Regional.

“If (the losing) trend continues in the final two weeks against Vanderbilt and at Arkansas,” Wagner wrote, “Tennessee could very well end up on the 2-line. TCU is still in contention to host as well, and could benefit by a team like Tennessee dropping.”
