GAINESVILLE -Fla. — Tennessee and Florida split a Friday double header from Condron Family Ballpark with the Vols taking the opener 6-2 and the Gators claiming the nightcap 4-3. The series finale will be on Saturday at 6:30 pm.

Here’s how it all went down on a length Friday from the ballpark.

Game 1: Tennessee 6, Florida 2

Tennessee’s offense was just enough on Friday to hold on for the game one victory over Florida, 5-2, in Southeastern Conference play. The ballgame served as the opening act for doubleheader play from McKethan Field at Condron Family Ballpark.

No. 3 Tennessee (38-7, 16-6 SEC) plated two runs in the second inning, added two more in the third and one key run of insurance in the eighth. The Gators (23-22, 9-13 SEC) briefly tied the ballgame in the second with a two-spot, but managed only five hits in the ballgame.

AJ Causey (8-3) earned the victory on the mound, pitching the five innings of relief in the ballgame. Brandon Neely (1-3) is charged with the loss after surrendering four runs off seven hits in four innings of work on the mound. Tennessee will send righty Drew Beam to the mound to start the nightcap of the doubleheader Friday.

Game 2: Florida 4, Tennessee 3

The Florida Gators tagged Tennessee’s Drew Beam for a pair of third inning home runs in game two of a Friday doubleheader from Condron Family Park, and the blasts were just enough as the Gators held on for the 3-2 win over the Vols in Southeastern Conference play.

No. 3 Tennessee (38-9, 16-7 SEC) and Florida (24-22, 10-13 SEC) will conclude the three-game series on Saturday at 6:30 pm eastern time on the SEC Network+.

Blake Burke tallied an RBI single in the fifth and Billy Amick drilled a solo home run in the eighth, but that was all the offense in the nightcap for Tony Vitello’s club.

Drew Beam (6-2), despite the quality start, is given the loss after allowing three earned runs off six hits in six innings of work. Fisher Jameson (3-0) earned the victory while allowing just two runs while pitching the final five innings of the ballgame.
