OMAHA, Neb. — Tennessee plated four runs in the bottom of the ninth and won it on the a Dylan Dreiling RBI single as the Vols climbed all the way back to defeat Florida State 12-11 on Friday night at the College World Series.

The No. 1 overall seeded Volunteers (56-12) move on now to play North Carolina on Sunday at 7 o’clock eastern time in the winner’s bracket. The Seminoles (47-16) will take on Virginia in the elimination game on Sunday at 2 pm eastern time. This stems from the Tar Heels’ 3-2 win over the Cavaliers earlier on Saturday.

Opening games in the College World Series have been a nightmare for the Vols. Tennessee has advanced to Omaha seven times in program history. Friday marks the second time (the other is 1995) the program has won the first game it played on the stage. Tennessee snapped a four-consecutive CWS lid-lifter streak.

Christian Moore hit for the cycle in the ballgame, becoming only the sixth player in Tennessee history, and the first in postseason, to accomplish the feat. The Vols managed three errors in the field defensively, however, which aided in the onslaught six-run third.

Nate Snead (10-2) is the wining pitcher on the night after tossing a clean 1.2 innings of relief. Brennan Oxford (2-1) is the loser after allowing the game-winning hit to Dylan Dreiling.

Tennessee will have the day off Saturday before taking part in Sunday’s nightcap against North Carolina. But first, here’s how it all went down for the Volunteers on a Friday night in Omaha.
