How it Happened: Zander Sechrist Pitches Gem as Vols Take Series from Georgia in Rubber Match

Zander Sechrist wouldn’t leave the mound for Tennessee as his career-day powered the Vols to a 7-0 shutout win over Georgia in game three of the series Sunday afternoon from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.  

With the victory, Tennessee (24-5, 5-4 SEC) takes the series two games to one and wins its second conference series in three tries. UGA (23-5, 4-5 SEC) is shutout in the series finale after run-ruling Tennessee 16-2 in game one of the three-game set.

Sechrist (1-0) earned the win on his career day, posting person-bests of six innings and 102 pitches while not allowing a run over four this with seven strikeouts and only one walk. Starter Christian Mracna (3-2) is charged with the loss following a two-run allowance in three innings pitched.

Tennessee returns to action next weekend at Auburn, but first, here’s how it all went down on a Sunday afternoon for the Vols.
