It was too close for comfort at times, but Tennessee held off High Point for the 7-4 final score Tuesday night in midweek action from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols (8-1) saw big days at the plate from Kavares Tears and Robin Villeneuve, while Billy Amick towered an eighth inning home run in the process. Tennessee finished the ballgame plating seven runs off nine hits while the Panthers (2-7) ended with the four runs off eight hits.

Chris Stamos (2-0) earns the win on the night after tossing one inning of one-hit baseball with two strikeouts and one walk. Dalton Olsovsky takes home the loss after allowing two runs over the first two innings of play. Nate Snead picks up his first save of his Tennessee career, tossing the final 2.1 innings of the ballgame.

Tennessee returns to Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Friday to begin a three-game weekend series with Bowling Green.
