Wake Forest is the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional and Cincinnati is the No. 3 seed. The two teams play Friday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Losers and winners from the two games will matchup on Saturday in the double-elimination format.

The full 64-team bracket was revealed Monday afternoon, after the Vols (43-16) were announced as one of the top-16 national seeds and a regional host Sunday night.

Tennessee is hosting a regional for the fourth time over the last five years. The Vols have advanced to the super regional round each of the last five seasons, including a road win in the Clemson Regional in 2023.

Vols played their way into a top-16 seed in SEC Tournament

Tennessee played its way back into hosting a regional after going to the SEC Tournament semifinals in Hoover, after beating No. 15 Alabama and No. 2 Texas before a loss to No. 9 Vanderbilt.

The Vols are up to No. 11 in RPI and were projected as the No. 14 national seed by both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com Friday morning. Both publications also had Tennessee opposite of No. 3-seed North Carolina.

Tennessee struggled down the stretch during the regular season, losing five straight SEC series and six of the final seven, dating back to the first weekend of April against Texas A&M. The lone series win was at Ole Miss.

The Vols finished in a three-way tie for seventh in the SEC standings with a 16-14 league record, tied with Ole Miss and Alabama.

The Vols started their run to the national championship last season with a 9-3 win over Northern Kentucky at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, followed by a 12-6 win over Indiana and a 12-3 win over Southern Miss to advance to a home Super Regional against Evansville.

In 2022 Tennessee beat Alabama State 10-0, Campbell 12-7 and Georgia Tech 9-6 to advance out of the regional round, before being upset by Notre Dame in the Knoxville Super Regional.

In 2021 the Vols beat Wright State 9-8 on Drew Gilbert’s walk-off grand slam, then swept Liberty 9-3 and 3-1 to advance to the Super Regional, where Tennessee would also sweep LSU to advance to the College World Series.
